All animals must go through the Evaluation and Sifting Process:

Animals 2 years and older must be started or broke to harness or saddle, whichever is applicable.

Animals 2 years and older will be judged and scored on the following - according to age.

  1. Harnessing or saddling
  2. Bridling
  3. Handling of feet
  4. Standing for mounting or hooking
  5. Moving off at a walk and trot or canter for riders
  6. Stopping
  7. Backing
  8. Turning left and right
  9. Pulling a load (harness only)
  10. Dismounting or unhooking

No animals will be allowed to sell in Select Sale if they:

  1. Are excessively thin
  2. Are crippled or lame
  3. Have impaired vision
  4. Will not lead and be handled
  5. Kick, paw or rear during evaluation
  6. Run off or buck during evaluation
  7. Do not go through the evaluation

Jennys, jacks, stallions and brood mares must go through evaluation, but must only meet physical guidelines - lead, tie and handle feet. They will sell following the riders and drivers.

Any animal that is physically sound but does not pass the evaluation process may sell at the end of the regular sale.
