Wagon Train
A new highlight of this year's celebration will be a 140+ mile Wagon Train starting in St. James, Missouri and continuing down the I-44 corridor frontage roads to Springfield and the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. All equines are invited to participate, including horses, donkeys and mules.
The wagon train pulls out of St. James on Monday morning, August 25, winds through the breathtaking Ozarks, and arrives at the Fairgrounds in Springfield just in time to open the Labor Day mule show extravanganza, know as the Ozarks Mountain Mule and Donkey Days.
Some 30 miles will be covered each day. Everyone is responsible for supplies and food for their animals and themselves. We will have watering holes along the way, resting about every two hours. We've indentified vets along the way who can help as needed. Our lead vehicle is well equipped with communication to all area law enforcement and service providers. We also will have chuck wagons in camp each night from which you may purchase dinner. A complementary barbecue will be held Sunday night for all participants.
